Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Description:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information & Technology’s (OIT) Communication Collaboration Services (CCS) mission is to deliver high-quality, effective IT services to support veterans' healthcare by managing and maintaining enterprise systems, including Entra ID Business-to-Business (B2B), Microsoft 365 applications, Active Directory, cloud and on-premise systems, to ensure seamless and efficient point-of-care and healthcare operations.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Engineer supporting inter-agency B2B collaboration initiatives on our Enterprise Messaging, Collaboration, Authentication and Office 365 Services Support for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for security engineering in support of the VA’s enterprise Entra ID B2B collaboration and application integration initiative. This role involves developing and maintaining the security on Entra ID B2B and the collaboration with other related systems (Microsoft 365, Azure AD, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) ensuring compliance with federal standards, VA policies, and security requirements. The candidate will implement and monitor security measures to safeguard B2B integrations and data.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform enterprise B2B security engineering
  • Implement, monitor, and support security measures to safeguard B2B integrations and data.
  • Develop and maintain the governance for the Entra ID Enterprise Security Engineering Program
  • Develop and maintain cyber documentation practices, including compliance with federal cybersecurity standards, VA cybersecurity and authorization to operate, authorization to connect.
  • Develop and deliver all relevant cybersecurity documentation
  • Ensure all security agreements are developed, signed, and maintained in accordance with VA policies (partial list):
    • Memorandum of Understanding
    • Memorandum of Agreement
    • Memorandum for the Record
    • Interconnect Security Agreement
  • Intervene and support any B2B related incidents
  • Work on the enterprise-level security engineering team to support B2B cybersecurity requirements.
  • Be involved in every area of the B2B Program (from intake to project closeout) to ensure solutions meet federal security and compliance standards.
  • Support custom application integrations and development efforts that enable agency-specific B2B functionality, ensuring solutions are secure and compliant with federal and VA requirements.
  • Apply VA security policies as outlined in the VA 6500 Handbook and the VA Assessment and Authorization (A&A) SOP
  • Monitor system health and track patching to maintain system integrity and security posture.
  • Work with the Engineers and other team members to create and maintenance RMF packages
  • Conduct research on special topics and recommend solutions to government clients.
  • Work proactively and independently to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Prepare and deliver the EMCAO program deliverables
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
